Apple Kills AirPower

We’ve been checking the release date of the AirPower every day, but there’s no need to anymore. In an email to tech news outlets, Apple had announced the death of it. AirPower was one of the most anticipated products Apple has ever worked on.

Apple AirPower

AirPower was first announced by Apple way back in September of 2017, when Apple themselves admitted that AirPower was “impossible” to create, but promised to do it anyway and deliver it the following year, which never happened. It would wirelessly charge three devices simultaneously once you lay them anywhere on the mat. Since then, we’ve seen constant leaks that the company was struggling with quality control. Apple had removed all mentions of AirPower from their website and went dark about it, stirring rumors of its cancellation.

But then rumors sparked when information was leaked that Apple was still working on AirPower and purchased trademarking rights. In the midsts of all this, Apple made direct references to AirPower in product descriptions, software code, and even on AirPods 2 packaging. Apple went as far as hiding an unreleased photo of AirPower on their Australian website.

Then Apple writes an email to multiple media outlets:

“After much effort, we’ve concluded AirPower will not achieve our high standards and we have cancelled the project. We apologize to those customers who were looking forward to this launch. We continue to believe that the future is wireless and are committed to push the wireless experience forward.”

dbrand’s reaction

While Apple was struggling to create AirPower, dbrand was creating skins for the product. However, when Apple gave up on it, they left dbrand with skins good for nothing. dbrand reacted by publishing a tutorial showing how to apply their skin to the AirPower. Watch it for yourself:
