one goal of this trip was to visit winter at clearwater marine aquarium; she starred in the movie series titled ‘dolphin tale’. winter was found caught in a crab trap in the costal waters of florida, which resulted in the loss of her tail. this loss caused her to swim by moving her tail side to side rather than up and down, which stressed body parts. because of this, a custom silicone and plastic tale was created to allow her to again swim naturally. winter had become an inspiration to human amputees worldwide and the custom sleeve concept was applied to military members who have lost body parts in war.
